I've ordered a new microphone and a stand that goes with it. Now I'm browsing LibriVox for a suitable starter project to record. I think I'll start with some of Grimm's Fairy Tales – my Grandmother used to read them to me when I was a child and spent a weekend with her. The one that I remember the most vividly is Der Königssohn, der sich vor nichts fürchtet. She must have read that one to me lots and lots of times. I remember asking for that particular story again and again, although I don't remember what it was that made it so appealing. Maybe the fact that the king's son wasn't afraid of anything, whereas I was such a shy little girl.

While I'm knitting, I love listening to audiobooks and podcasts. Cast-On is my favourite podcast at the moment. Brenda Dayne's recordings are interesting and funny, and she plays great music.

In her eighth episode, Brenda mentioned LibriVox, where you can get audio files of books which are in the public domain. Everyone can record books, or just a chapter or two, and then upload them to LibriVox. How cool is that?

I'm downloading Agatha Christie's "The Mysterious Affair at Styles" right now. Maybe, if I find the time and someone with decent recording equipment, I'll record something in German for the project one day. If only the day had 36 hours ...
