I got tired of rummaging around in my wooden needlebox for a set of matching dpns every time I started a new project, so I made a needle case!

I cannot sew a straight line for the life of me, but it turned out okay-ish. The pockets are a little too long, so it's a little fiddly to get the needles out. I forgot to add a flap at the top, so when the case is rolled up and turned upside down, the needles will slide out. And I still have to add a ribbon to hold it all together.
But for a beginner's sewing project, it turned out ok, and I'm happy that I can find the right size needles at a glance now. *tries not to poke herself in the eye with a dpn while doing the happy dance*

I got really cute stitch markers with my last order of DPNs from Ewas Sockenwolle:

They're the perfect size for sock needles, but I think I'll continue to use my self-made markers for lace knitting:

My LYS had a sockyarn sale! 100g of Meileinweit Bosco for only 3.95€. I got a skein in lovely shades of dark red to knit a pair of socks for my mom for Christmas:

The pattern is from "Knitting Vintage Socks" by Nancy Bush. I love her patterns: so simple, with clear instructions, and still all of them are interesting enough that I never get bored knitting them.

I spent most of my weekend cleaning up the Lana Grossa yarn entries in the Ravelry database. People can enter new yarns if the yarn from their stash isn't in the database already, and a lot of them don't really search for it before they enter stuff.
So there are lots of duplicate entries, misspelled entries, and some batshit crazy entries where I have no idea what the hell people were thinking.
I hope we can get it all under control before Ravelry opens to the general public and problems like these grow exponentially. The whole point of Ravelry is to be this great organized cross-linked source of information about all things fibery, but it takes a lot of work.

We went to visit a LYS in Osnabrück called Wollperle this weekend. Check out the photos on their website, it's awesome!
Of course I couldn't leave without buying anything, so I got three balls of Rowan Baby Alpaca DK. So soft!

Also, I finished a pair of socks from Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush.

Don't worry, I've not fallen off the edge of the earth. I just got an invite to Ravelry, and a new dropspindle from Wollwolff.
I've spent hours today taking pictures of my stash and projects and uploading everything to Ravelry. And I've spun lots of green merino fiber into a pretty thin thread. And tomorrow I'm going to do it all over again.

Get a grip, people! It's a funny quote. You're not a real knitter if you lack a sense of humor.
Knitting
To be fair, this is a decent hobby for the elderly, the infirm or the criminally insane. It isn't, however, the sort of thing young adults should be doing. It's dull as fuck.
It's not trendy. No matter where you meet up to do your knitting (and doing in a pub is fucking ridiculous, you should sit at home and do it where no-one can see your shame), it's not cool. It's something old women do because they can't move their legs any more.
What's your next hip & cool hobby? Getting a catheter?

They're done! *happydance*

I gave them to my mother for mother's day today.
Now I'm working on the "Myrtle Leaf Shawl" from "Victorian Lace Today," and on a simple pair of socks. The socks are for the local Stitch 'n' Bitch we've started last week. Chatting, drinking and knitting lace just don't go all that well together. :)

Mark with bold the things you have knit at least once, with italics the ones you plan to do sometime, and leave the rest.
